20th December 1998.

Two new important items. First of all, Heather's new UK tour has been announced. See the new Concert Information page for more details. Secondly, Heart and Shoulder is finally going to get a proper release in the UK, following the abortive release earlier this year. Here's what the press release said...

"The Single "HEART AND SHOULDER" is out on February 8th on 2xCDs and Cassette and is taken from the album "SIREN" which is out now."

Rather unimaginative, but there you go.

Subject: Heather Nova - New Album releasing in the U.S.

Hi there! Just wanted to send a bit of info. The new Heather Nova album to be released in the U.S. on The WORK Group/ Sony is scheduled to be in stores in late May '98.

Heather was just in the offices looking at photographer's books so we can get started on artwork, marketing and all
that good stuff.

Your website is AWESOME! In fact, I was talking with Heather about the strong support she's had from fans on the web. Of course, obviously she is totally involved. (I saw the note you posted from her to her fans. Cool!).

We should have a teaser website up soon for Heather... www.workgroupnet.com. (Of course, we totally won't be able to compete with your site, but....)

Anyways, I'll give you more info as I have it. If you could spread the news about her new album scheduled to be in
stores in late May '98, that'd be great! THANK YOU!

I did try to post this information to the Heather Nova mailing list, but was told I was no longer subscribed.... Perhaps I've been kicked off the mailing list. Who knows, who cares. It's cool getting this sort of support from record companies.

I'm currently uncertain of release dates for Europe, but assume they will be pretty close to the US ones.

Also Heather is due to tour Europe and the States this Summer, to promote the new album, possibly doing a few big festivals along the way. Looks like I'll have a busy summer!

"The album is now seven tracks done." says Felix Tod, Heather's boyfriend and producer. "Musicians include David Ayers from Red Snapper, Nickolaj from Addict, Satin Singh on tablas and other percussion, Nadia on cello, ex-curve drummer Steve Monty and Paul Sandrone from Raissa on bass."

They have been recording at Peter Gabriel's Real World studios and in London. Heather also did a track with Moby, with a chance of more to follow. In addition to that, she won a BMI award for 'Walk This World'.

"Heather is really keen to get touring again, so don't let the fans worry!", Felix continues. That's all very nice, but what about the new album? "The record sounds great more soulful than ever, but also more live sounding."

New Information about Heather's progress on the new album is to your left, received on June 12th 1997.

Latest information (21 May 97)

Latest news is that Heather is currently working on her new album for release..... Nobody knows when, but apparently recording is being held up by her guitarist being unavailable (Hmmm.. Wonder what that means?) Anyway, it looks likely to be released either later on this year, or early next. But never fear, we'll be straight on the scene when she does release anything new.

Heather Nova, You've never seen her...?

Some news here: the release date for the Frith EP on CD (under the name Heather Nova) for EUROPE is February 17!

They are not sure yet about the American release date, but the CD should come out in America, too. However, this information is unconfirmed! I will give you further information as soon as I get it.

Take care,

Ilka = )

Exciting stuff heh?
